I am delighted to announce the arrival of yet another excellent line of gluten-free baked goods at Zabars! This time the spotlight shines on Deborah Brenner’s Las Delicias Bakery.
Deborah learned to bake at her Italian grandmother’s and mother’s knees in Buenos Aires, where elaborate entertaining and spectacular culinary feats of derring-do were commonplace in her home. So, when she began baking for a husband with Celiac disease, it was natural for her to refuse to settle for results that were merely close in texture to the “real thing”. We are so thrilled that she is so driven, because these are truly wonderful, delicious treats made with top-quality ingredients that you will never notice are gluten-free. Attention to detail, especially in the sourcing of ingredients and all along the path from concept to end result, makes these products really stand out.
Note that Las Delicias baked goods are made right here in New York and reflect Deborah’s strong commitment to local, organic, and sustainable ingredients. They are also kosher! Zabar’s carries the Caramel Fleur de Sel Brownies (my personal favorite-sweet and salty together is the bomb!), Triple Chocolate Brownies, Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies, and White Chocolate Macadamia Brownies, pluse the Extraordinary Carrot & Pecan Muffins, Banana & Fresh Ginger Muffins, and Corn & Sweet Paprika (also awesome!) muffins.
